This startling figure has been spread by global anti-vaxx organizations and used as evidence to call for an immediate end to vaccine distributions worldwide.
Infamously, the controversial Canadian psychologist Jordan Peterson has also promoted this discredited view.

In response to the discovery of the study, Springer Nature has initiated an investigation into its publication. The research was published in one of their subsidiary journals.
‘Once the journal’s investigation has concluded and we have the necessary information to make an informed decision, we will follow up with the response that is most appropriate and that provides clarity for our readers,’ it said.
‘This may include potentially taking editorial action.’
The groundbreaking study was released this week by an economist from Michigan State University and published in the journal BMC Infectious Diseases. The results of this research hold great potential for furthering our understanding of infectious diseases.
Professor Mark Skidmore, who has expressed his thoughts on Covid jabs through a number of blog posts, determined an assessment of potential vaccine-related fatalities in the US by means of a survey carried out online with 2,840 participants collected during December 2021.

Respondents of the study were questioned whether they knew of someone who had encountered severe health issues as a consequence of receiving the Covid vaccine.
A total of 612 people (22%) admitted to having knowledge that someone has perished because of the virus, and a startling 57 individuals (2%) revealed they knew personally somebody who had lost their life due to COVID-19.
These included deaths from heart attacks, strokes or blood clots.
After obtaining data, Professor Skidmore formulated a vaccine fatality ratio and extrapolated it to the whole U.S. population that received the Covid vaccines during their first year of deployment.
Professor Skidmore noted mournfully in his journal that the death toll from Covid vaccinations might possibly reach an appalling 278,000.
Nevertheless, his estimations suggest the death toll may actually be closer to 330,000.
Professor Skidmore, an esteemed expert on finances and the economics of natural disasters according to his university, declared that the figure was derived by excluding fatalities which would have occurred regardless of vaccination.
Experts expressed their apprehensions regarding the study’s methodology.
Dr Simon Clarke, an associate professor in cellular microbiology at the University of Reading, warned that any study conducted with a self-selecting group of participants is inherently flawed and consequently must be analyzed critically.

‘There’s nothing wrong with a scientific journal publishing the work of an economist, but we should always be mindful of the limitations any study and just because it’s been accepted by a scientific journal does not automatically mean it’s right. Editors can make mistakes too.’
He went on to emphasize that it’s vital for journals to guarantee the content they publish is helpful and useful for readers, along with determining if a report has passed through stringent standards of proof before publishing any conclusions.
Withdrawing an article post-publication only takes place almost exclusively if either a severe issue is revealed after its release or in cases of scientific misconduct.
‘For me, the biggest problem with this paper is that fails to sufficiently highlight its own potential shortcomings and it was the job of the Editors to insist that they be included before they authorized publication.’
