In the Mexican border state of Coahuila, at least three people were killed and three more law enforcement officers were injured in a mysterious explosion at a house.
On early Wednesday morning, an explosion took place in Saltillo. According to Breitbart Texas, who consulted law enforcement sources, six agents who were part of the security detail for the Coahuila Attorney General were at the nearby house in Santa Fe Cactus neighborhood.
We have received preliminary information that three agents died from the blast, with the third agent dying at a hospital. Three officers sustained serious injuries, one of which is Adrian Favela, chief of security for AG Gerardo Marquez Guevara.
The explosion was apparently caused by a gas leak, as authorities claim. Neighbors interviewed by Breitbart Texas, on the other hand, say they did not detect any gas before or after the blast. According to law enforcement sources, the blast is linked to a possible plot to assassinate high-ranking officials in the border state’s security apparatus and potential targets are being kept under close surveillance. The attack takes place just as Coahuila state police are fighting with cartel members in the north of the region. Los Zetas’ Cartel Del Noreste group has used armored car convoys to launch assaults on cops throughout northern Mexico. It’s unclear whether the explosion was caused by a gang.
